Afternoon Tea Review: The Greenwich Hotel

During a weekend in January , me and a friend went for afternoon tea in Greenwich at The Greenwich Hotel as a belated birthday treat for both of us.

The outside of The Greenwich Hotel had an air of elegance. This theme of elegance continued as we stepped inside. Greeted by kind staff in the lovely-lit reception area, we went into the bar/eating space. The atmosphere was so peaceful and there was a lavish chandelier which flowed down the staircase. Beautiful!

First, the waitress gave us a glass of Prosecco. Then,  I ordered a tea pot of black tea with cranberry, and the portion size was more than enough. I loved the tea and it was my first time trying it. I will definitely drink it again-that’s if I can find it in the shops. The only  problem was that the cool cooled down very quickly.

Afternoon tea doesn’t seem like a feast. But trust me, it’s filing. Presented on a two-tiered stand, the waitress brought sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jam and adorable little assortment of cakes to our table. The salmon sandwiches, my favourite out of the selection, tasted good and fresh. Other sandwich filings included mature cheddar and pickle, honey roast ham and granary mustard, lemon and cream cheese and organic egg mayonnaise and watercress. So, there were plenty of options to choose from. The scones had a soft and rich texture as well as that straight-out-of-the-bakery smell.

I would definitely recommend this place. The staff were polite, the seats were super comfy, the food/tea tasted good and it’s a great place for conversation.
